Madame Zeroni is from Holes. Which may also perpetuate stereotypes, I can’t remember, it’s been ages since I saw it. (I mostly remember Sam, because Dulé Hill.)

I don’t believe Madam Zeroni is explicitly Romani, although she does embody some of those tropes - but a lot of that flavor comes from the whole eastern European (Latvian) setting. She also uses yiddishisms, so who knows. But my recollection is that she’s not any kind of an outsider - she’s another inhabitant of the village, alongside the Yelnatses and the Menkes, and the curse is more of a …cosmic imbalance than anything else.
